Lottomatica Group subsidiary GTECH Corporation has signed a 10-year contract to upgrade an existing keno system, commence selling online lottery games, increase the terminal base, and provide ongoing software, operations and marketing services for Shenzhen Welfare Lottery Center (SZWLC).

SZWLC administers and operates lottery games in Shenzhen, China, and has the option to extend the contract beyond the initial 10-year term by two 18-month periods. The new system is expected to go live in May 2011.

GTECH president and CEO Jaymin B Patel commented: "This deeper relationship in Shenzhen is strategically important for GTECH as we look to further expand our footprint in China."

Under the contract, GTECH will replace the current operating system with GTECH’s Enterprise Series solution, replace and grow the terminal base with 1,500 Altura GT1200 lottery terminals, and implement GTECH’s ES Connect B2B solution enabling the central system to interface with third-party vendors.

GTECH’s ES solution and Altura open systems architecture will allow SZWLC to easily integrate new technologies in the future. GTECH will also provide SZWLC with ongoing software support and marketing, as well as hotline and operational support services over the duration of the contract.
