UK gambling charity GamCare has launched GamCare ExTra, a brand new social responsibility e-learning package, to promote responsible gambling.

GamCare ExTra will give gambling industry staff the skills they need to recognise the key signs of potentially risky behaviour and knowledge about how and when to help. Customer service staff in the betting and gaming industry are the front line when it comes to identifying players who may be at risk.

In 2009/10, more than a third of people contacting GamCare for help found out about it through the industry. So industry staff are vital to GamCare’s work to help people gamble responsibly. GamCare ExTra helps everyone win - the player gets help before problems start, industry staff have the support they need and operators have confidence in their teams, while fulfilling social responsibility elements of licence and certification conditions.

GamCare chief executive Andy McLellan said: “I see GamCare ExTra as a way for us to work with operators, land based or remote, wherever they are based, to promote responsible gambling in the certain knowledge that they will have GamCare behind them to support them in their work.’
