Sky Betting and Gaming CEO Richard Flint has warned UK chancellor George Osborne that a rise in gambling duties could harm the chancellor’s plans to establish an economic stronghold that Osborne has labelled the Northern Powerhouse.

Flint said his company was already at a tax disadvantage and that this would worsen if the current rates went up.

“I hope that any future changes would be discussed with industry,” he said, adding that any amendments to gambling duties could have a knock-on effect on the Northern Powerhouse.
