The UK Gambling Commission has suspended the igaming licence of Stakers Ltd and will carry out a review of the business due to several unspecified compliance issues.
The governing body commenced the review under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005, which says the commission can investigate any licensed company if necessary.
“We have commenced a review and have decided to suspend the licence held by Stakers while that review takes place. This is due to a number of compliance issues.
“We suspect that Stakers has breached a condition of the licence and is unsuitable to carry on the licensed activities. We therefore consider it appropriate to suspend the licence with immediate effect pending the conclusion of the review,” it wrote on its website.
The commission said it was appropriate to halt the licence of the firm with effect from March 4, pending an investigation. The commission added it was appropriate to instruct the customers of the company to withdraw funds and not to place bets on the website.
