Mobile gaming company Cometa Wireless has announced its first ever profit in the year ending March 31 on turnover that doubled over the previous year.

Established in 2004, the company spent its first two years developing its game portfolio and underlying Arcadia technology, which enables players to continue playing even if there is no mobile signal. Since then it has grown rapidly in each financial year with last year’s revenue turning into profit for the first time. Further high growth is anticipated this year as new games are being developed for quickly expanding platforms such as iPhone and Android and exciting new approaches to the rapidly growing sector are trialled.

Rob Anderson, Cometa’s chief executive, commented: "We are currently experiencing month on month increase in customer spend so 2010/11 looks great."
