Entain-owned operator Bwin has been ordered to pay back losses incurred by a player who played with the brand in the Netherlands before the re-regulation of the Dutch market.

Lawyers for the plaintiff argued that the companies were operating in a grey market and without a licence.

The Overijssel District Court ruled in favour of the players, with Bwin ordered to pay back €187,622, as well as interest, to the player in question.

The bets took place between January 2018 and November 2019.

Flutter Entertainment’s PokerStars was involved in similar court proceedings and must pay a player back for losses incurred.
