The Swedish Gambling Authority, Spelinspektione, has warned igaming player Enlabs it could lose its licence if it does not start gaming activities in the country by July.

The brand, which is based in Baltic region, was awarded a licence to begin operations in in 2018, ahead of the opening of the regulated igaming market in the country. However, the regulator said that the company has not yet launched in the market despite being one of the first to enter the country.

Due to the inactivity the regulator has now warned the company it must launch or will likely lose its licence. In response, George Ustinov, president and CEO of Enlabs, said: “The Swedish Gambling Authority decision to give us a warning due to inactivity was not unexpected and does not change our communicated strategy for the Swedish market.

“We believe the authority’s assessment is reasonable and we will offer games under our Swedish license no later than June, 2020, and thus retain the licence.”

“In particular, I would like to emphasise that the authority’s warning only arises because we did not offer gaming operations under our licence and does not entail any financial consequences. We look forward to a launch in Sweden and continue to monitor market conditions in order to seize the opportunities that arise.”
