The leader of the Colombian gambling regulator has proposed the formation of an international commission to support Latin American gaming regulation.

Marco Emilio Hincapié said the Ibero-American Commission of Regulators would unify regulatory criteria, promote responsible gaming and tackle the illegal market.
It would also look to support regulation of verticals such as esports and share experiences of regulatory processes with emerging markets.
Hincapié made the proposal as part of the ninth Ibero-American Gaming Summit in Lima, Peru.
He said the body would look to help regulators join forces and make “joint decisions that allow us to strengthen the legal industry and share regulatory experiences.”
Madeleine Burns Vidaurrazaga, Peru’s vice minister of tourism, said: “We are open to participating in an international cooperation space to establish basic standards for regulation and information exchange.”
