It would appear that Canada is no longer to be considered the poor relation when it comes to the regulation of online gambling.

Speaking to iNTERGAMINGi at ICE last week, Mark McGuinness, MD of eMainstream Marketing, which has been licensed in Ontario since November, said he would go as far to say that although New Jersey is on the brink of regulation, Canada will be fully open to online gambling before any of the US states. "Canada has actually put a time line of 2012 in place," said McGuinness. "It also has a better economy than the US," he added.

New Jersey made history in January when its legislature became the first American legislative body to approve licensed and regulated online gambling in the US. It is thought that once the state is regulated, Florida and California will be quick to follow. However, McGuinness believes that the federal government might have something to say before New Jersey’s online gambling opens.
