Bethard Group is to pull its UK operations, the company has announced.

In an email sent to customers, the Swedish operator stated that the group “has taken the decision to withdraw from the Great Britain market and cease GB operations” as of July 6, 2020.

Players from the UK will be able to log in and play up until that closure date, the company added, while after that date all open bets will be voided. Balances can be withdrawn from accounts for five weeks after closure up until August 10.

The decision to close down arrives two years after Bethard gained its UK licence, albeit after postponing a launch in the country due to problems concerning brand ambassador Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s promotion of the company.

Late last year, Bethard became one of the first UK operators to place custom deposit limits on players in order to go “above and beyond” in terms of player protection.

Based in Malta and Sweden, Bethard Group currently holds licences in the UK, Malta, Denmark, Sweden, Spain and Ireland.
