British-based bookmaker Betfred has been chosen by the UK government to buy the Tote, the state-run betting organisation, following a six-month auction process.

The deal is yet to be formally completed and a contract is yet to be signed, but the details are expected to be completed by the end of today. The exact fee Betfred is paying is not yet known, but it is expected to be in the region of £200m.
