As Betfair awaits the results of a review of the regulation of remote gambling by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, it warns that UK operations could be under threat.

Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph this weekend, Betfair CEO David Yu said that if the government doesn’t act to level an "uneven playing field," Betfair will have to consider what’s right for the business over the long term.

Online betting companies based in Britain currently pay a gross profits tax of 15per cent, which could prompt Betfair to join the likes of William Hill and Ladbrokes in moving its online betting operations offshore.
