Peter Vesterbacka, whose company Rovio makes the popular Angry Birds game, has high hopes for the future of mobile gaming.
According to Vesterbacka, innovation in gaming has moved into mobile and social largely because those companies are more "nimble" - it’s easy to develop and release new content quickly - stating that as gaming on remote devices continues to grow, console games are "dying".
When it comes to the business model for mobile gaming, Vesterbacka said "no one has figured it out yet". But when a game can become as wildly popular as Angry Birds, which has just passed100 million downloads, he said there is clearly a business opportunity. He added that the key for Rovio is to continue experimenting and not become attached to any particular model.
