Zax Amusements made its debut at the Australasian Gaming Expo in Sydney this week with a range of amusement devices suitable to go into pubs and clubs where the management wish to provide family entertainment.

Said the company’s Phil Boniwell: “We are here because there is a very real interest by pubs and clubs in Australia now to install something for families. We can provide a turnkey installation for them and even run it for them if they need it. We are working closely with QubicaAMF, the biggest name in tenpin bowling on projects.” But Zax, from Melbourne, have some of the world’s best-known amusement names in their portfolio.

They are official distributors for companies like Elaut, Bay-Tek and ICE, but also supply Sega, Namco, Konami, Coastal, Andamiro, Raw Thrills, Adrenaline and Unis, effectively covering all segments of the industry, plus Intercard who supply special debit card systems for use in arcades and family entertainment centres.

“Typically, a club might traditionally have a driving game and a couple of skill testers, but now there is increasingly talk of putting in what is effectively a family entertainment centre. They may want anything from zip wires to play gyms to fully-equipped coin-op arcades. This is where we come in.”

The name has been brought back and the game turned into an entirely new device in the form of a ‘cocktail’ table or coffee table and is now going into Australian locations for kids’ play or for adults, appealing equally to both.
