It is now not anticipated the project will be ready to open this year as the organisation reboots its vendor and contractor teams and gets the work back on track.

It is expected the project will create 14,000 permanent jobs in Central Florida, said Comcast Corporation CEO Brian Roberts.

“This is our single largest investment in the state,” he said.

It will feature a new theme park, entertainment centre, hotels, shops, restaurants and other infrastructure, all assembled on a 750-acre site, doubling Universal’s total acreage in the state. It is located a few miles from Universal Orlando’s current theme parks in south-west Orange County.
