Tekken Tag 2 Tournament is a fresh game from the Bandai-Namco stable and was launched in March at the AAE trade show in Las Vegas on the substantial Namco stand.

It is unlikely to be distributed in Europe; so far it has been launched in Japan, Korea other parts of south-east Asia and now makes its debut in the US.

The player buys a ‘passport’ which he registers with the game, storing his own games and other data which is personal to him on the passport, which is used on a reader on the front of the game. He then uses the buttons provided to play a fast-action virtual fighting game on screen.

Namco reports that the game has reached cult status in Japan, where players had taken to filming action with video cameras on the sit-down version of the machine. The new model, on a raised upright plinth permits wider viewing and importantly, stores previous action to be studied by the acolytes of Tekken Tag.
