One of the biggest and most pleasant surprises of last year’s IAAPA Expo was the re-appearance of Japanese game-maker Taito.

Space Invaders Counter Attack Gun Arena

This year, the creator of Space Invaders is sharing space with fellow manufacturer UNIS on booth 840 and will have three new machines to display.

Speaking with InterGame, the company revealed further details prior to the show opening next week.

Gun Arena is a video target shooting game jointly developed by Natsume Atari, Taito and Youngbae. Players fire BB pellets from a gas-blowback airsoft gun toward on-screen targets while a specially designed 55ins game screen absorbs the impact from shots fired which then drops the spent ammunition into a collection box.

The game utilises an intelligent safety feature that prevents rounds being discharged when the gun is pointed away from the screen.

Space Invaders Counter Attack is a redemption game developed in collaboration with UNIS and sees players using blasters to fire ping-pong balls at video screen Space Invader targets as well as physical ones too.

The third new title is a party game called Hero Festival.

Further details of the new titles will be reported here next week.
