Reports suggest that funding is now in place for major development in Suffolk.
The SnOasis project has seen stop-start progress for nearly 20 years, but a report prepared ahead of Mid Suffolk District Council’s planning committee later this month suggest the project in Great Blakenham could be complete by 2023.
Outline planning permission has already been granted for the project and If it gets the final green light, the site would feature a snow dome with bobsleigh runs, ice wall and ski slopes as well as an entertainment dome offering a climbing wall, casino, nightclub and cinema. It would also house retail outlets and a hotel.
The Council report states: “The submitted reserved matters applications represent a crucial step forward in the life of this long-standing project.”
It goes on to say that officers understand financial backing is in place and that, if approved, the company could “have the entire facility capable of operation by the end of 2023."
