Another Magic Planet family entertainment centre is confirmed this week for Dubai.

Magic Planet

Magic Planet’s parent company Majid Al Futtaim Group is, through its properties division, building a new shopping mall and 2,000 housing units at the Global Village in Dubailand.

The mixed-use development will also have hotels in addition to the regional-size mall, confirmed Robert Welanetz, CEO of MAF Properties. It will cover 750,000sq.m on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, the principal thoroughfare of Dubai, and the mall itself will contain 1.2m square feet of retail space.

Welanetz confirmed that the company had purchased the land and is preparing the plans for the development, aiming for a 2020-21 opening.

MAF Properties is to invest Dh30bn (€7.2bn) in the UAE real estate market, building 10 shopping malls and six hotels with completion dates between 2019 and 2021.

The company currently owns 19 shopping malls in 14 countries, all with Magic Planet FECs within them.

Damien Latham, CEO of the MAF Entertainment Division, confirmed to InterGame that a Magic Planet would be established in the new Dubailand project.  “If it is a MAF development, then for sure there will be a Magic Planet inside it.”
