Theme park rights to the works of author J.R.R. Tolkien have been bought by Swedish entertainment company Embracer.

Embracer Group has acquired theme park rights to the works of J.R.R. Tolkien

The deal includes his most famous works, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

They were acquired from Saul Zaentz Company and could see the IP appear in a theme park soon.

Embracer says it is open to collaborating with existing and new licensees with the new IP.

Saul Zaentz Company originally acquired the rights in 1976, producing an animated film that was released in 1978, before licensing the brand to Peter Jackson in 1998.
