There have been further problems for the troubled London Resort, the principal backer of which was last week declared bankrupt.

Kuwaiti Abdulla Al-Humaidi is a leading contributor to the proposed £2.5bn London Resort close to Dartford in Kent. The project has been constantly stalled for several years, with one disaster after another, yet at one time it was to have rivalled Disneyland.

The High Court declared Al-Humaidi bankrupt and his London Resort Company Holdings is reported to be in the hands of administrators called in to restructure the business.

He invested in the project in 2013 but has told national newspapers this week that he had resigned as a board member of the company last year.

The plan was for a theme park close to the Thames, but it has never got past the drawing board through a series of setbacks, mostly concerned with planning approvals.
