WHEN tenpin bowling centres start taking out lanes to install other attractions, you are in the midst of a major sea-change in the US leisure industry. It is a phenomenon that few have actually charted, but when it is drawn to the attention of some of the region’s most knowledgeable coin-op people, they always seem to concur.

Tenpin bowling is an American tradition and it isn’t dying, as the statement above might seem to suggest. Rather, the operators of that type of entertainment are realising that they need to broaden their offer.
