Indian trade association IAPPI has told Intercard that it cannot publish ads from non-members.
This comes after the trade association talked debit card systems supplier Intercard into booking – and paying for - four ads in its trade magazine, Thriller. However, the association is now telling Intercard that it cannot publish the ads as Intercard is no longer a member of the association and has not renewed its membership.
Intercard is subsequently refusing to renew its membership…impasse. This ‘back door’ method of gaining members – or forcing those who want to leave membership to remain, seems to have backfired. Intercard, now convinced that it will not get its money back, is happy to broadcast what it feels is unprofessional behaviour by a trade association.
