News that the Malta government is re-evaluating its gambling regulations may have a useful spin-off for the street market.

Many operators hope that in the planned review of the existing gambling laws, there may be room for some kind of coin-operated gaming machine in arcades or bars.

According to our information, at least one former amusement arcade operator has turned to sports betting, although that has not yet been approved and his action may be in anticipation of that.

Malta’s gambling laws are regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority, which is undertaking the review. Much of any changes will cover the country’s role as a major global portal for online gambling licences.
