Germany’s Gauselmann Group has donated a generous €10,000 to the BACTA Bikers’ charitable work.

At a ceremony at the German company’s Schloss Benkhausen castle near its headquarters in North Rhine Westfalia, chairman Paul Gauselmann presented the cheque to the motor cycle club which is on a European fund-raising tour.

The BACTA Bikers are a group of motorcycle enthusiasts who belong to the UK trade association. They undertake sponsored rides each year to raise funds for the BACTA designated charity. The particularly generous Gauselmann donation will now go towards charitable work in the UK, a country with which the Gauselmann Group has particular affinity, having several subsidiary companies there.

“What the BACTA Bikers do goes way beyond normal association work and deserves recognition,” Paul Gauselmann said. “As a leading gaming company - also in the British market - we would like to make a contribution for society and at the same time affirm our commitment to the British gaming machine and entertainment industry, in which we are represented with four companies and around 2,000 employees, in the same way as we have done in our home region for many years.”

The Bikers are on a long, multi-stop tour of European gaming machine destinations. Since foundation in 1991, they have undertaken 12 tours and collected over £165,000 (€212,555) which has gone to children’s hospitals and non-profit organisations.

The current tour will cover 3,000 kilometres and take in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Belgium and the UK. The bikers, all from the industry, are Andrew Murden, Dave Orton, Alf Preece, Bob Rudd, Phil Silver, Tony Slater and Geoff Weeden. Most of them are now of pensionable age!
