The National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives has launched a fundraising campaign to save and preserve four historic coaster cars from across North America.

Kingda Ka

It is hoping to save cars from Kingda Ka, which debuted at Six Flags Great Adventure as the tallest and fastest coaster in the world; Nighthawk, which was the world’s first flying coaster when it opened at Paramount’s Great America in 2000; La Vibora, one of only a handful of trackless coasters that were every built when it opened at Six Flags Magic Mountain in 1984; and Time Warp, one of the only Zamperla-built Volare coasters from Canada’s Wonderland.

“Without the tireless work of the museum’s volunteers, who have been working to preserve these attractions for over six months, there is a good chance they would be lost forever,” said Jeff Novotny, President of the NRCMA. “By directly involving park and ride fans, we can now all work together to preserve the historic legacies that each of these vehicles represent.”

Fans can donate to the fundraiser online, which each donation of US$100 and above seeing the donor’s name or company added to the exhibit of their choice.
