The 25m high Ferris wheel, part of an ongoing investment into the park, gives riders "stunning views" of the surrounding countryside.

Operations manager at the park, Sam Towers, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be able to officially launch the new Garden Wheel ride and for it to welcome its first passengers.

"It will provide an entirely new dimension to the visitor experience and offer an incredible bird’s eye view of the park."

She added: “Since its launch back in 1921, Wicksteed Park has been at the forefront of providing people of all ages and backgrounds with a great day out. The Garden Wheel is a fantastic addition and we’re sure it will become a firm favourite with visitors”.

The Wicksteed team is also planning to integrate the wheel into events and activities, providing a scenic vantage point for events such as firework displays, Christmas activities and weddings.

Other new attractions launched in the park's expansion have been its Galaxy Invaders ride, Meerkat Manor, Wicky Bear’s Theatre and Wicky’s Farmyard.
