Payments innovations can overcome "pandemic paralysis" in FECs, says Embed, with strong evidence to prove the theory.

FEC operators’ pivoted strategies, said the Singapore-based company, focused on surviving the pandemic and are safely on the road to recovery - but Embed cited many examples of operators thriving during the downtime period.

With Covid-19 restrictions easing this year, customers "are on a revenge spending spree, making up for lost time and the immense craving for entertainment, experiences and connection – all without compromising safety – is the trend."

Operators must be in the new low-touch, contactless economy as consumers are demanding faster, safer and more efficient ways to transact.

To do that in the FEC business, operators need to upgrade to reliable systems that give real-time visibility and results.

They must also provide simplified ways of working, minimising touch points and free up more time for manpower without compromising the guest experience.

Embed has collected tributes from operators that have followed this advice and will share recordings of their experiences.

They include Chris and Jennifer Donner of Game Over Arcade in Lincoln City, Oregon, US, who have transferred to an Embed smartTOUCH system with debit card readers.

Similarly, the Scary Strokes FEC at Waldorf, Maryland, where Doug Roth has added kiosks readers, POS and redemption system, plus the Mobile Wallet – and benefitted from the exercise.

“Reinvention is the answer to the rising consumer needs,” said the company. “These businesses that defied "pandemic paralysis" were only able to do so by making the decision to switch over to a system that is a no-brainer."
