First to market with a mobile wallet for amusement locations is Embed, the major cashless business management systems and solutions supplier for FECs. The company’s new product is a virtual game card that can be added to the Apple Wallet on the IOS platform and Google Pay on Android.

It has the same functionality as the game card but sits in the guest’s mobile wallet, enabling them to tap and reload without leaving the game. It helps operators to drive return visits and gain information on customer behaviour, usage and spend habits.

The development, said Embed’s CEO Renee Welsh, makes Embed the only non-banking finance-payment or loyalty card business and brand card that will sit in the mobile wallet. “This breakthrough enables any business currently using the embed Toolkit system for kiosks, game cards, SmartTouch readers and range of business solutions to simply add our Mobile Wallet module to existing business solutions.”

Welsh added: “We know that consumers don’t want to use cash or fumble with tokens. They use the Mobile Wallet to pay for everything.” She noted that ‘millennials’ are the largest demographic and growing uptake for cashless. This is because of its convenience, speed and security.

“Working on a new product module for our existing Toolkit system, enabling players to register the game card on the operator’s Mobile Portal and its ability to be added to the Mobile Wallet, is a win-win for operators and guests.”

Embed initially worked with a major FEC operator on the project, in addition to both Google and Apple to gain compliance approval. “This significant breakthrough is a result of a collaborative effort with our partners and customers. We listen and work closely with our clients, drawing inspiration from other industries, monitoring technological advances and research consumer behaviour to deliver the end result,” said Andy Welsh, CTO.

The Mobile Wallet, as part of the Mobile Portal module, is easy to use and operators can bundle offers, drive repeat visits and improve loyalty while guests have the convenience of tapping to reload.

In practice, the player will purchase and register the game card in the Mobile Portal through a kiosk or online through a mobile. The portal shows a virtual card featuring the card balance check and ticket balance and gives the option to add the virtual card to the Mobile Wallet. The guest begins to play, tapping to validate play and redeems prizes from the wallet. A fast reload of the game cards is available at any time without leaving the game.

The new Mobile Wallet will be on Embed’s booth 1336 at IAAPA, November 19-22 in Orlando.
