The Dublin Discovery Trails: Doors into Docklands app affords visitors a groundbreaking augmented reality experience.

The new app brings the history of Dublin's Docklands to life, shining a spotlight on the "culture, history and heritage" of the region and the wider city, according to Lovin Dublin.

Karl Mitchell, director of service area management at Dublin City Council, said: “This app, through its immersive augmented reality technology, allows users to explore the city’s Docklands in an engaging and exciting way.

"You can find out more about Dublin’s maritime history, visit famous landmarks and heritage sites, uncover hidden wonders, and experience history and culture in a new fun way.” 

The app includes experiental features such as the 1921 Custom House fire and an animation of the Scherzer Bridges, as well as an animation of the famous Diving Bell device and the workers who operated it.
