A South Korean retail developer has partnered with Paramount Global to build an amusement park in the country.

Shinsegae Group announced yesterday that it had signed a KRW4.57tn (US$3.39bn) deal with Paramount to develop the project, which will cover around 4.2msq.m in Hwaseong, around 45km south of the capital Seoul.
Named Star Bay City, it is hoped that the park will attract 30 million people annually once it opens in 2029.
As well as a more than 1msq.m theme park, the destination will also include a water park, shopping centre and luxury hotel.
Im Young-Rok, president of Shinsegae Group, said: “The theme park will be more than just an amusement park. It will offer a space where visitors can experience characters and stories from their imaginations in real life, providing a unique blend of fun, inspiration and relaxation for people of all ages.”
