Public schools in the Canadian city of Edmonton have banned the use of inflatables and trampolines “to create safer play and learning environments for staff and students.”

Canadian schools ban inflatables

“A couple of kids at Victoria School of the Arts were hurt while on an inflatable,” a statement from Edmonton Public Schools said.

The ban applies to any attractions supported by a blower, which schools sometimes have at year-end celebrations, in all 213 schools within the district.

The regulations state district staff and students are prohibited from having physical contact with inflatable amusement attractions and trampolines during school-related activities inside or outside a school facility, such as at sports fields, recreation centres and while on field trips.

This comes after similar criticism of the amusement in the UK following the death of a seven-year-old girl on an inflatable.
