Tenpin bowling is making a gradual return to operation in the US. Reports are coming in from several states of the lockdown being eased for venues, bringing relief to many operators.

Bowling

At Batavia, New York State, six months of lockdown has been relieved for the Mancuso Bowling Lanes from today. The location can operate with 50 per cent capacity. F&B has to be delivered to each lane individually and face masks are required. At Mount Morris Lanes, Bob Santini is bringing his staff back into work and deep-cleaning. He said most league bowlers had their own shoes and balls, but ‘open bowlers' needed new cleaning measures with each ball sanitised after each use and overshoes for rented shoes.

At Long Island, again in New York, the All Star in Riverhead is also opening. Owner Chris Keller said: “Some in government may consider bowling non-essential or not important enough to reopen right now. But we are the fibre of many communities.”

His location was closing alternate lanes to ensure 50 per cent capacity and embarking upon a programme of deep-cleaning and disinfecting.
