An opening date of April 12 has been set for BeWILDerwood, a new adventure playground in Cheshire, England.

The venue is designed for children up to teenage to enjoy a park designed around the magical book series of the same name by author Tom Blofeld.

The location is in Cheshire near Cholmondeley Castle, close to Manchester, and it is the second park under that name; the original was in the East of England in Norfolk. Tickets for the Cheshire park have now gone on sale.

The park is designed with rope walkways, climbing and clambering wooden structures all intended to be "wonky;" treehouses, zip wires, slides and all in a setting of an enchanted wood.

The venue is intended to be without noisy rides - it has nothing electronic and, as the owners report, "no junk food."

“Our ethos is to leave technology behind, get outdoors and use your imagination – run wild!”

The first BeWILDerwood opened in 2007 at the Norfolk village of Hoveton. The Cheshire site received planning permission in 2017 and was due to open a year ago, but the launch was shelved because of the pandemic.
