The company’s chairman and CEO, Philip Kaplan was the Gold Stevie winner in the Maverick of the Year – Consumer Services category and the company also won the Silver Stevie Award for Achievement in Management, Hospitality and Leisure.

The awards are the principal accolades for US businesses. They are nicknamed ‘Stevies’ after the Greek word Stevia or ‘crowned’. The awards received over 3,000 nominations from organisations of all sizes and from wildly varying industries.

Kaplan, who operates the GameWorks chain of seven locations with full entertainment and dining experiences for millennials, teens and families, said: “In the past year we have focused on changing the trajectory of the company and are honoured that after such a short time those efforts are recognised. The judges took note of our recent transformation, path to the future and esports leadership.”
