The enormous entertainment centre that is American Dream opened its first phase last weekend with the first of a raft of triple-A attractions.

Triple Five Group, developer of the US$5bn “mall” at Meadowlands in New Jersey, US, is taking retailtainment to new heights with the main focus being on the entertainment facilities rather than the retail across its three million sq.ft of interior space.
Nickelodeon Universe opened on October 25 and the world’s largest indoor theme park is the first of many attractions that will be rolled out over the next few months. The entire project is expected to be complete in spring 2020, when the retailers lift their shutters, too.
The Shredder is the world’s longest, tallest free-spinning coaster, the Shellraiser is the steepest roller coaster in the world and across the lobby in the DreamWorks Water Park (opening November 27) is the world’s highest indoor body slide with a 142ft drop.
American Dream visitors can also take to the ice on the regulation ice hockey rink that’s already open and will double as a venue for concerts and football tournaments. December 5 will see the snow ready on Big Snow’s slopes, North America’s only indoor ski facility.
Spring 2020 will see a Legoland Discovery Centre and Sea Life Aquarium, while KidZania a CMX luxury movie theatre, a Ferris wheel and two mini-golf courses are in the pipeline.
