Primetime Primetime

Formed in 1992 by David Goldfarb, PrimeTime Amusements, based in south Florida, US, operates, sells and rents arcade machines and simulators, as well as offering a consulting and theming service to the international amusement and entertainment industry.

Covering all sectors of amusement, PrimeTime is well placed to comment on changes in the industry and has, over the past 12 months, seen an increased demand for sports games such as basketball, skeeball and pool tables as well as air hockey and strength testers such as knockout boxers.

“These games are more interactive than standard video arcade games, often requiring two people to play,” said Goldfarb. “The interactivity and excitement that surrounds these energy-filled games often draws more attention and ultimately crowds to a booth at a trade show.”

The rental side of the business has also grown considerably over the last year compared with previous years, according to Goldfarb. “There are as many large orders as there always has been but we’ve seen many more smaller orders more recently,” he said, “including arcade games for corporate parties, events and shows.

“There has also been an increase in the number of companies requesting that rented games be branded with their business logo or name for trade shows. It is a great way to grow recognition in the industry and create a more professional and established presence.”

While PrimeTime has built up a well-established business from rentals and operations, some of which include locations such as McDonalds, Johnny Rockets games rooms, numerous bowling centres, Universal Orlando and Xtreme Indoor Karting to name just a few, core machine sales remain the company’s bread and butter. Able to provide both new and refurbished ‘like new’ arcade games to customers around the globe, it can outfit anything from a simple games room to an entire FEC.

One area of new growth for PrimeTime is its theming and consulting service. Offering entrepreneurs and facilities owners turn-key arcade consulting, planning, installation and operations solutions, PrimeTime can literally “put people in the arcade business,” handling all aspects of the process, including: engineering, branding, design, décor, theming and so on.

“We only launched this division earlier on in the year as an extension of our nearly two decades of experience in the arcade sales, rentals and operations business,” said Goldfarb. “It was the next logical step for the company. The theming division is headed up by an art designer and team of sculptors with a combined 50 years plus experience in the sector; we create the theming pieces using a combination of CNC 3D cutting machinery and hand sculpturing. Customers are also given the opportunity to have pieces made-to-order.”
