Three men believed to be former employees have been arrested following a failed robbery attempt at the Atlantis casino resort in the Bahamas.

They posed as maintenance workers but were foiled by security guards during the daylight raid. The men tried to rob a cashier's cage at the casino after releasing pepper spray, causing employees to run for cover.

The resort was put on complete lock-down on Sunday after a staff member managed to push the panic button, stopping anyone from leaving or entering. Resort officials said the robbery attempt was not visible to casino patrons. It occurred in an employee-only area behind the kiosks where people collect winnings.

There have been claims that they were working with a fourth man in the Ocean's Eleven-style heist, who was operating from a room at the hotel.
