Fines totalling CA$350,000 have been issued against Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto for multiple gaming standards violations involving an after-party thrown on the casino floor.

A dance music event with thousands of attendees was hosted in a theatre adjacent to the casino on September 27, 2024, which involved “widespread intoxication, disorderly behaviour, and numerous criminal and medical incidents - both inside and outside the venue,” according to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) which issued the fines.
A performing artist then made an unscheduled request to host an after party on the gaming floor, which casino management approved. There the artist performed to more than 400 people among operational gaming machines and table games.
This meant that “security personnel were unable to effectively control the casino floor.” In addition, the operator did not report this, as the AGCO requires.
"Casino operators have a fundamental duty to control their gaming environment,” said Dr. Karin Schnarr, CEO and registrar, AGCO. “Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto’s lapses in this incident compromised the safety of patrons and the security and integrity of the gaming floor.”
