The Eastern Cape Gambling and Betting Board in South Africa is to issue a draft request for proposals for the 10-year casino licence in the western part of the province currently held by Sun International, which operates the Boardwalk in Port Elizabeth.
The board was planning a ‘bidders conference’ at its offices in East London on September 5, at which it would hear from interested parties. A final request for proposals would be issued afterwards.
The proposed closing date for applications is December 15. Proposed minimum criteria for the licence applications include "a minimum investment of US$96.1m."
