Meridian Bet is aiming to provide the “complete betting solution” to casino operators seeking to offer a sportsbook within their properties.

At last week’s G2E Asia show in Macau, the company’s Zoran Milosovic told InterGaming that his company can provide the know-how to operate a retail betting operation within a casino and is also offering its own franchise for this purpose.
“The potential here is already very high,” he said. “It could be the biggest market in the world but for legal reasons the market has not developed yet. Legislation is pretty restrictive but when it becomes liberalised for private companies then it will be the biggest sports betting market in the world.”
Meridian Bet already has significant operations in Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and South America, so Asia is the logical next step. This was the second year that the company had exhibited at G2E and Milosovic predicted a “long road ahead” for the company.
“Business is expanding in all regions,” he said.
Football remains the largest draw when it comes to sports betting, with tennis increasing in popularity. Fast betting markets, explained Milosovic, are the key to this growth. So too is the rapid expansion in in-play betting, which five years ago was only a small part of the sports betting business. This, he said, will be important within the developing Asian market.
A full report form the show will appear in the July issue of InterGaming.
