T Rao Coca has joined US gaming giant IGT in the newly-created position of vice president of intellectual property.

"Coca brings a wealth of US and international experience in intellectual property and is a tremendous addition to the IGT team," said Robert Melendres, IGT’s chief legal officer and corporate secretary. "The creation of this position is a clear indication of IGT’s commitment to its technology leadership and focus on leveraging, protecting and growing its significant intellectual property assets."

Coca has decades of experience in IP strategy, development, licensing and litigation, and has held a variety of executive and legal positions at IBM, Nvidia and NCR.

He also has extensive international experience, including managing IBM’s IP matters in Tokyo, Beijing and Delhi.
