German payment solutions provider Hess is teaming up with UK-based casino consultant Paul Sculpher to launch its Polaris Scorpion redemption kiosk into the British market.

Erik De Kat, global sales manager at Hess, said the time is right to launch into the UK market.

"We feel that as more UK operators are working towards integrating all of their electronic gaming terminals, both slots and electronic table games, it is a good time for us to showcase our voucher redemption terminal," he said. "When all devices in the casino are paying out the same type of ticket, it makes sense from a security and staffing point of view to automate the payout process, and with four note cassettes and five different coin hoppers, we believe our product, tried and tested across the world as it is, represents a good choice for the UK market".

Sculpher has 19 years experience in the UK gaming industry and, as an operational consultant, has worked with many local authorities to assist with the competition process for licences granted under the 2005 Gambling Act.

"We chose Paul Sculpher as our UK agent as we’d dealt with him before, as a potential customer," said De Kat. "He has already shown that he has solid connections across the UK casino industry and we look forward to working with him to present our products to all sectors of the UK gaming industry."

Sculpher added: "I was delighted to be approached by Hess - some years ago as general manager of Aspers Newcastle, I looked at this type of technology.

"Now that integration between all platforms is becoming complete and the Scorpion will be able to pay out all tickets from one kiosk, I feel it makes perfect sense for operators."
