Total gross gaming revenue (GGR) in Denmark across 2024 rose 5.6 per cent year-on-year, with online casino showing the most growth.

The Danish gambling regulator, Spillemyndigheden, said total revenue was DKK11bn (£1.25bn), up from DKK10.4bn (£1.19bn) in 2023.

Online casino revenue grew from DKK3.1bn (£353.3m) to DKK3.5bn (£398.9m), while lotteries revenue climbed from DKK3.5bn (£398.9m) to DKK3.7bn (£421.6m).

Behind the top two verticals for revenue, betting revenue declined slightly from DKK2.21bn (£251.8m) to DKK2.20bn (£250.6m).

Gaming machines revenue fell from DKK1.19bn (£135.6m) to DKK1.16bn (£132.1m), while land-based casino revenue increased from DKK367m (£41.8m) to DKK368m (£41.9m).

The overall revenue figure of DKK11bn saw Denmark’s gaming industry return to year-on-year growth after revenue fell from DKK10.6bn (£1.21bn) to DKK10.4bn in 2023.

Despite online casino’s growth, its 32 per cent of GGR was behind lotteries’ share of 34 per cent.

Betting accounted for 20 per cent, gaming machines 11 per cent and land-based gaming three per cent.
