Australian gambling operator Crown Resorts is planning to add a 90-storey hotel and apartment tower to its existing Melbourne casino.

The proposed Queensbridge hotel tower, which is yet to receive approval, is expected to cost A$1.5bn and will include 388 rooms, 680 apartments, an event space, restaurant, lounge and garden terrace.

British architectural firm Wilkinson Eyre won a global design competition to undertake the project.

In a statement, owner James Packer said: "Wilkinson Eyre has designed a beautiful and elegant building that is destined to be an important addition to the Melbourne skyline.”
