Atlantic City in the US is considering expanding casino gambling into new areas.

The City Council has approved changes to its master plan that will rezone parts of Route 30 to allow the construction of a casino on the site of a former oil depot.

The proposed property, about a mile from the Boardwalk, would be built by Penn National Gaming.

About two dozen residents of the nearby Venice Park neighbourhood urged the council to reject the plan, or at least put it back until Penn National officials could meet with home owners.
