The Netherlands-based Bubble Group, the parent company of Sheriff Gaming, has been declared bankrupt by a Dutch court just two days after losing the Category 2 Associate Certificate it held with the Alderney Gambling Control Commission.

In a statement on the AGCC website, it was confirmed that at a regulatory hearing on Monday commissioners determined that Bubble was “no longer fit and proper to hold such a certificate”.

The withdrawal of the certificate is the culmination of a nine-month investigation by the commission, triggered by raids on Bubble and Sheriff premises in May last year.

Two days after the licence was withdrawn, on Wednesday, February 26, Bubble, which is based in Eindhoven, was declared bankrupt by a court in Oost-Brabant.

No further details are available on the bankruptcy ruling, which is listed on Dutch bankruptcy register www.faillissementsdossier.nl, but - along with the licence withdrawal - it represents the latest in a series of potentially fatal blows for Sheriff’s parent company.
