The next generation of jukeboxes is being tested in Europe.

Playdium

Playdium, a "smart" jukebox which has been a hit in the US, was shown for the first time in Europe at the Autumn Coin-op Show in London and it is already being tested in UK locations.

Playdium comes from TouchTunes, the major US manufacturer which signed an exclusive deal with Britain’s Sound Leisure to handle the product. There are 65,000 TouchTunes jukeboxes in operation in North America and with the tie-up with Sound Leisure’s Soundnet subsidiary, TouchTunes hopes to make real inroads into the European market.

The features of Playdium, says TouchTunes, are "game changing" and the display of the device in London was met with a constant stream of operators to introduce themselves to its benefits.

The device has already been on test in the UK for six months and TouchTunes has reported significant cash box returns.
