Former Boylesports CEO Lee Richardson has been appointed managing director of Slots.com.

Citing "family reasons", Richardson left Ireland’s largest independent bookmaker Boylesports in August this year having only joined the company five months earlier.

Slots.com was recently bought at a Snapnames.com online auction by BodogBrand.com for nearly £4m, the largest sum of money paid for a domain in 2010. It will be launched as a fully stand-alone company offering a full suite of gambling products.

Richardson commented: "There is no strong brand in the slots area like there is in, say, poker yet any casino off or online will happily admit that slots are not only physically the biggest part of the casino but more crucially in profitability terms slots are equally dominant. The domain gives us a fantastic SEO edge and when coupled with the brand experience and marketing clout we will add this venture becomes a very powerful proposition."

Calvin Ayre, founder of the Bodog bran, said: "The fact that Slots.com can attract somebody with Lee’s depth of experience in the industry highlights just how strong this brand can be."

Slots.com will be licensed in Antigua to be fully compliant with UK gaming law.
