Zeal says its increase in transaction volume of 15 per cent to €411.7m in Q2 was “near record-breaking” and 18.8 per cent higher than in the second quarter of 2022.

Jonas Mattsson, chief financial officer, added that the company has recorded the second-best quarter in the company’s history.
Sales revenue for Zeal increased 11 per cent to €54.8m, with almost 350,000 new customers recorded in six months, an increase of 20 per cent year-on-year. The gross margin of 12.5 per cent was near to the previous year’s figure of 12.8 per cent.
Lottery provider Zeal’s results have been helped by adding online slot games to its portfolio. After receiving a licence to do so in April, it expects to have published up to 200 titles within the first year.
Mattsson said: “We pursue a focused marketing strategy and invest disproportionately in high-jackpot phases.
“The short-term decline in earnings at high jackpot phases is a perfectly normal development that will settle down again in the further course of the fiscal year."
However, its lottery offering performed well in the second quarter, with Zeal setting a record in transaction volume of €30.6m in a single week. The Eurojackpot lottery hit the maximum jackpot of €120m in two consecutive draws.
